Mission Initiatives
Jesus proclaimed his mission in Luke 4:18-19, when he read from the writings of Isaiah:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Our call is to reclaim that same vision and passion for the whole mission of Jesus Christ today through five life-changing, church-changing, and world-changing Mission Initiatives:
For Community of Christ, the word “church” does not refer to simply to a type of building or a particular meeting on Sunday. In our tradition, church exists wherever disciples and seekers engaged together in mission.

- Invite people to Christ,
- Abolish poverty, end suffering,
- Pursue peace on earth,
- Develop disciples to serve, and
- Experience congregations in mission.
