Sacredness of Creation
God created and continues to create everything through God’s living Word (John 1:1-3). God calls all of creation “good” (Genesis 1:31).
Simply by being, everything shares in God, the source of being, and thus all of creation is sacred.
Our world provides abundance and resources for all, but many lack access to basic necessities due to global inequities.
Greed and waste are exhausting the earth at unprecedented rates, poisoning environments, forcing species into extinction, and causing a global climate crisis.
We are called to be faithful stewards who promote peace on and for the earth.
Acknowledging creation as sacred includes reducing our negative impacts and seeking sustainable solutions so that we can leave a healthy, thriving world to future generations.
