Worth of All Persons
God views all people as having inestimable and equal worth.
In proclaiming the kingdom of God on earth, Jesus did not give preference on the basis of wealth or noble birth or gender or status.
Instead, he reached out to groups marginalized by contemporary society, healing individuals and their relationships with the community.
Despite this example, Christians have frequently mistaken their cultural norms for doctrine and used scripture to promote discrimination by race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, and identity.
As a church, we repent of these practices and strive to uphold the dignity and human rights of every individual.
As we journey forward, we seek to challenge unjust systems that diminish human worth.
