Experience Congregations in Mission
Our fifth Mission Initiative ties them all together. The word “congregation” means “collecting together” into a flock. While some spiritual paths focus on individual practice like hermits living in the desert, our focus is on building intentional community.
In practice, our congregations grow to become spiritual families. Our Church Camps are called “Reunions,” because they are very much like reunions of your extended church family. Of course, we delight in each other’s company and like any family, we have our various conflicts.
But we do not gather simply to get together. Our goal as a community is to share in Christ’s mission. We “Experiences Congregations in Mission” when our activities are missional. That is, when they involve: (1) inviting people to Christ, (2) abolishing poverty, ending suffering, (3) pursuing peace on earth, and (4) developing disciples to serve. When these goals are in place, we truly (5) experience congregations in mission.
