Unity in Diversity
Community of Christ is a diverse, international family of disciples and seekers.
As the many voices in the Testimony Tapestry illustrate, our community includes a rich diversity of experiences and beliefs. These differences enrich our movement collectively and help us each to grow as individuals.
Were we all to share the same perspectives and opinions, it would be impossible to learn anything new.
The church is governed by the common consent of its members at all levels: congregation, Mission Centre, national, and World Church.
When we cannot achieve agreement, we commit to ongoing dialogue and uphold our common faith in Jesus Christ and the mission of the church. This includes living according to principles of Faithful Disagreement.
We confess that our lack of agreement on certain matters is hurtful to some of God’s beloved children and creation.
